The Orchid Society of Middle Tennessee would like to invite you to participate in our Fall 2009 50th Anniversary Mid-America Orchid Congress show and sale. The show will be held at the Franklin Marriott Cool Springs in Franklin, TN. This will be an AOS sanctioned show. We are very excited to be hosting this 50th Anniversary event, and look forward sharing the experience with all our fellow orchid enthusiasts.

There will be 17 plant vendors and 7 non-plant vendors. There are currently 30 plant displays planned...no tabletop displays.

    Speakers:

Ken Cameron speaking on "The role of DNA in orchid classification: why so many name changes?"

Erich Michel speaking on 'The True Encyclias" An exploration of the anatomy and taxonomic placement of the Genus Encyclia in the Epidendrum subtribe.

Ron McHatton speaking on "Orchid Sex" The development in orchids of fused reproductive organs and heavy, non-windblown pollen aggregrates necessitates the intervention of another living creature in the sexual saga of orchid reproduction.

Please come! This is going to be a great show with lots of vendors. The venue is easy to get to, and there is plenty to do and see around Nashville. Besides the large (300 acres?) upscale shopping and dining area adjacent to the show venue, the Brentwood/Franklin area is surrounded by historic Civil War battlefields, the music and entertainment areas are nearby, as well as great antiques and art shops and studios.
