When we built the Looking Glass 2 years ago, my husband christened it the "Looking Glass." He said it was like entering another dimension, and the name stuck. He even made me a sign that hangs over the door.

The winds are relatively calm today, so I thought I'd take some pictures. Given my choice, and no other pressing responsibilities, this is where I spend my weekends toiling away the time.

    First, the bulbo groupings.

The third pic shows my only shadey area in the entire 24x36' structure.

These pics show some of the Catt alliance species, and a bunch of vandaceous stuff.

    Thanks, peeps.

Clark, I did have to heat a few times this past winter. The entire structure gets wrapped in poly, and I run a couple of propane heaters. PITA.

I am very fortunate that I can grow outside all year, but often I find myself trying to figure out how to outsmart Ma Nature. For example, we've had an extraordinarily dry spring (for us) humidity wise, and my plants are showing signs of stress. I'm having to water at night just to give the plants a chance to absorb what they need.

Karen, Pea was banished to the house for slaughtering an anole (type of lizard.) As I was shaking her in the atttempts to get her to release it, I felt a pain and saw blood on my arm. Damned anole had chomped on to me in its attempt to get away from her. No good deed goes unpunished...

Wow, Alexis! That's beautiful. I once took an anole away from my cat and spent several long minutes with a tweezer pulling cat hair out of it's wide open mouth. It was packed with cat hair. They fight like banshees! I love your Looking Glass. I spent a long time on Bauer Drive in Homestead at my DH's parents' egg farm in the early 60's and realize now how great it would have been for orchids which were in my future. Nice set-up!

    Thanks, everyone!

Ann, Bauer Dr runs perpendicular to my avenue, and is about 1/3 of a mile south of us. Small world, eh?
