I love giganteas -- the leaves in particular are incredible. It is hard to resist petting them. :) These are two of my young plants that happen to be in bloom at the moment.

First -- this is gigantea 'Krull's Ruby' x 'Ponkan'

And this is a first bloomer -- a plant I've had since it was a 4" seedling. So, I am thrilled to see it bloom, finally. gigantea 'Jia-Ho' x sib

Very well grown! How long did it take the seedling to get to blooming size?

I love giganteas, too! The second one is my favorite of your two. I wish I had better luck with these...

Thanks -- I have had this plant for 4 or 5 years. It came in a small pot and I left it there for at least a year. It did alright, but wasn't really growing. Once I put it in this vertical basket, it took off. All but one of my giganteas are growing that way--mounted/hanging out of a vertical basket. And I grow all of them nice and bright -- bright as I can without burning the leaves. Not quite as bright as my vandas, but pretty close. :) Maybe that will help Alexis.
