It seems an appropriate time to explain what Orchids Interactive is, why it was created, and why it will persist.

First of all, thank you to all of the people who are making this forum possible. Bluntly stated, that is anyone who is reading this thread. Our success is based on traffic and posts. We have surpassed all expectations and hopes that were in place upon commencement. It would not be possible without the users. Thank you.

OI is a forum created by orchid enthusiasts, for enthusiasts. Forrest and I understand the importance of having a passion for what it is we choose to pursue. We don't just have a few plants in a window sill. We both have greenhouses that are overflowing with plants. We get excited when we finally have enough money saved to attend a show or buy a plant. We didn't create this forum with the intent of generating cash flow. We created it so we could share photographs, knowledge, plants, and excitement with others. We have a passion for orchids, and we want to enable others to share their same experiences.

OI was created for myriad reasons. As stated above, the foundation of our forum is the love of orchids. The spark that started the flame was the recurring threat of closure of another forum to which we belonged, and we did not want to be without the relationships and friendships we have built over the years. A fresh start was needed, and OI was born.

OI will persist well into the future for many reasons. The users are the prominent reason. Your passion for orchids and your understanding of what OI embraces are the lifeblood of this forum. The doors will be open for as long as we are able to take pictures, for as long as we get excited to see a spike on a plant, and for as long as we still care for orchids.

Ultimately, thank you for adding OI to the list of forums you visit. Stay for a short while or stay for a long while. We are just glad you stopped by.

Personally, I'm very grateful to you guys for taking the initiative to do this and for inviting me to come play in your new sandbox. All the hoopla at that other forum ws making my poor wittle head hurt and it just wasn't fun anymore. Bless you.
