Look what surprised me this morning when I went to water! All but a few of the flowers opened over night. This grex is platyphylla (ellisii) x modesta. It has the larger flowers and slightly apricot tips of ellisii and the less reflexed petals from modesta. Spike is 2 feet long, each flowers nectary is 8 inches -- and it smells wonderful. This plant was originally growing in a pot, but it languished. As soon as I "mounted" it in a basket it has thrived.
