Recently got this (from Cal-Orchid) in a tiny pot tightly packed with sphagnum. Looking for general advice on culture.

I grow mine on mount, intermediate, good air movement with good rh, daily water(a bit more water than my other Angraecoids) and bright shade(1500-1800FC).
FYI, the spike will take months(4~5 months) to develop, so don't worry.

It does not seem to be a vigorous root grower. It does seem to be fairly resilient and is surely amongst the most reliable bloomers of the genus. I killed one when i tried to play god and became arrogant and made various bad decisions. The other, is mounted on cork in the shade with daily misting and weekly (or more) soakings, with shockingly low humidity. That's how I know it is resilient. The flowers are sublime and the fragrance defies description.

Thanks, all. mrbreeze, your abiding love and devotion of Angs played a small part in my purchase - I succumbed to your enthusiasm. I don't have a greenhouse or orchidarium, but perhaps I will create a small tank with high rh for this plus the A. didieri I also bought. Am I on another slippery slope mrbreeze? Is this how your angoholism started?

I find the term "angoholism" offensive. The careful collecting and study and love of Angs is *not* a disease. It is a calling. They named a religion after them for god's sake!

    But to answer your questions...

Yes, it is a slippery slope and you are clearly doomed. However, your only regrets will be that you didn't start collecting Angs earlier and that you perhaps wasted time and money on non-Angs like Bulbos or, heaven forbid, slipperz n' floof.

The path that led to my salvation was one that began with a quest for the most enticing and exotic of fragrances. When one is seeking the "best smelling orchids", one is naturally led to Angs. That path can lead to no other tribe.

You have received a great blessing in fastuosa, may it serve you well.

    What does angoholism?
I do not know if I understood what you said, is a bit difficult for me,
I'm very in love of Aerangis fastuosa and see them dying makes me suffer, I will retry when a less hostile environment.
My Angraecum didieri instead goes very well but I grow it in pot.

Egoista, Mr B and Dave are being funny. They use the word angoholism as one would use the word alcoholism. They are comparing an addiction to Angs to an addiction to booze!!
