No Country For Old Men by Cormac McCarthy. One of America's best authors, no question. I did not see the movie and have no intention to now. If you've not read this book, get it. Now.

Under The Dome by Stephen King. 1,073 pages. One of his very best King's I've ever read. I will re-read this again. I don't think the Hollywood idiots will be able to mess up the ending, as they do most of his books. It was a great book. And not too far out there, either. For King, that is.

I need more books to read now.

Has anybody read the new John Irving book yet? I got it from Amazon the other day, but am going to really try to save it for when I have a few days off around Christmas.

I refuse to have a Kindle. Nothing beats the feel of the book, the whisper of the turning pages..I love to read.

Tracey, I've not read the Irving book yet(still waiting for the paperback) but I've been told it is a book to savor. I can hardly wait to read it!
    Amazon, ya say...hmmm..

I have the Irving book via my Mom. Like you Tracey, I'm sitting on it for a couple of weeks until our two week vacay in Hawaii.
I love John Irving books. My Mom and I always share them.

OK, I KNOW it's weird, but it got a lot of recomendations from readers on *cough*another forum.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Classic Regency Romance - Now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem! (Paperback)

Seriously, go read the Amazon reviews.
    It's in my shopping cart!

Tracey (and others), I'd love a short review of the new Irving book, please. I saw it today in the bookstore, but he hasn't written anything really good in years IMHO. His
early writing was quirky and rather wonderful, but it seems he's fallen on hard times
recently. I'd love to hear he's back on track.

Fiction is about suspense, for me. Anything written in the first person is immediately discarded.

Who here owns a Kindle or wants one for Christmas? Do you like it and why? Or do you know somebody who owns one?

I want one. I know a bunch of people who love em. They are easy on the eyes, convenient, portable, and easy to use. The only problem is that not all books are available on them.

I'm currently reading Dan Brown's latest, The Lost Symbol. Quite frankly, I don't think it's as good as his other books. It reads like a screenplay. Heck, it probably is a screenplay. The only question remaining is which actress is gonna get the role of Katherine Solomon . . . .

I just finished reading the Kite Runner and A thousand Splendid Suns. They were such good reads that I have no words. I must add that as a female A Thousand Splendid Suns touched a spot. I will probably be getting the Conroy books next.
