I went down Thursday morning and got to help folks setup and rekindled some old acquaintances. Friday morning I was honored by being asked to clerk for the Paph. and Phrag judges. What a learning experience that was. The whole show was wonderful and as usual when I get around so many beautiful plants for sale I succumb.

Here's a few from Orchid Inn. Sam was very nice to me and talked with me more than he had time for.

When I was at Ga Tech, I volunteered my time at the public greenhouses in Piedmont Park, before they were replaced by the ABG. The orchid grower at the time (I cannot recall his name) is the guy that gave me my first plant and got me hooked.

When I left for my first job, I donated quite a few plants to them - mostly succulents and cacti, as my orchids were definitely going with me. When I gave a presentation there a few years ago, I was given a private tour, and besides being remarkably impressed by the quality of the operation, I actually got to see a couple of "my" plants.

Kool. tong did you get any of the great Masdys' that were there?
Ray: Are you going to be speaking again there anytime soon?
Steve/Kip: I was told not to spend over a certain amount, well you know how that goes.

I have pretty much stepped off of the speaking tour, but there has been some interest, so I'll consider it if I'm invited.

Now that I'm in NC, I'm a lot closer!

    No, but it was tempting.
I did get 4 kool logs, a mistery tiny Masde., and 6 other plants.
Someone needs to take away my money before I buy something thats in the $1,000 range.
Then I will spend time with orchids in my house instead of others.
And yes, I know how vanishing money works.

    Peach state is awsome.
    They are so nice.
They all know me (I live only 10 mins. away so I go whenever I am bored) and since it is privately owned, they can change the prices so I get a 50% discount!

Omg it was so nice although the weather wasn't so gud, but that didn't stop me from spending $275.00 went over my budget of $200.00 but the deals were unbeatable! I bought 7 plants on Saturday stopped myself from buying a Catt that I saw, went home had nitemare about not buying it & what a gud deal it was, so of course I went back Saturday which I'm glad I did cause I got an even better Catt than the 1 I originally was eye balling & met the kool logs vendor & his wife which were fun to talk he has my problem but worst too many orchids lol according to his wife, also met genie from Illinois with all the paphs they were awesome ppl so ended up spending another $75 on a cart & paph from them & tried out a kool log so another $25 no biggie it's been awhile since I bought an orchid about 2 weeks I think so it's justified & the orchid show is only once a year! But it was better this time than last year to me, & everyone was so awesome & welcoming! Can't wait til next year, fiending already ‼decided I'm gonna join the society also! Orchids are worst than drugs, you'll never have enuff regardless of how many you have & you'll still buy another even tho you say this the last orchid imma buy‼
