A few months ago me and my wife were dividing some Coelogyne pandurata bushes we got as far as cutting hem all up in one day and putting them in large baskets ready to pot up the following day, I was busy working welding an extension on to out farm when i heard a fuss going on in the Coelogyne area when i went to check it out, it seemed that a chinese pit viper has made his self at home in one of the baskets that the Coelogyne were in my wife was potting up then she uncovered him and got the shock of her life i know they are not deadly but they can hurt A LOT. note to self never cut up more than you can pot in a day. :) DSC00178.jpg DSC00183.jpg

That would be a shock!! However, it is a beautiful photo of a beautiful snake. I like snakes as long as I know where they are. Being surprised by one has me jumping before my conscious brain even realizes what I have seen.

I did keep him for a few months I had 5 of these for pets at one time but a long dry season and shortage of frogs made me let them go. we often have snakes in our farm from these to spectacled cobras i even found a 2 meter Banded krait in our farm before but i took him straight back to the forest they are impossible to keep as they only eat other snakes

Beautiful snake, but I hope that never happens to me! I'd die on the spot from heart failure I think!

Beautiful, useful, but exactly the most friendly neighbour.
Glad it led only to a fright. :)

    Gorgeous snake.
How exciting if a little alarming to have such exotic visitors in your orchids!
