I love winter time for Beer. There are some great seasonals if you are into that sort of thing.

I try to keep the Sierra Nevada celebration ale stocked this time of year, but there are so many that I try to sample when I can.

Anyone else into winter beers? Do you have any good local beers that I might not have had before?

PBR. Neither local nor limited to winter. It can be enjoyed 24/7.

    :D

PBR, man that is some nasty stuff. If it wasn't for Blue Velvet I wonder if it would still be brewed.

Hmmm, looks like Real Ale (another local) bottles their Winter Barleywine Ale. Interested?

I think I still have a bottle or two of cranberry lambic left over from last year. Even the dog wouldn't drink it
Yours if you want it for postage

Beer...nectar of the gods, and i have been a beer afficionado for many moons, kemo sabe.Mind you, i`m not an alcoholic, if i was, i`d go to meetings...i`m just a drunk. Last year when i was in Belgium, a guy was telling me there was in excess of 8oo breweries....schuizer, i thought i had died and gone to heaven....but it turns out they are all small local brewers, every town has it`s boutique [ i like that word] brewer. Some of the beer was quite strong, 14% was the best i had, here in Oz, the land of milk and hunny, the beer is about 4%. I was indeed fortunate to sample belgian, german dutch and singapore beer on my sabbatical.....BUT, beer is beer wherever you go...here in Oz, [the land of milk and hunny] we quaff large quantities of the amber fluid....I think that i shall never hear, a poem as lovely as a beer, of golden base and creamy muff, i sit all day and drink the stuff....trees were made by god i hear, but only man can make a beer.

The IPA is hoppy. I've not sampled their other offerings. I'll look today for some special beers for tonight. I feel special today.

I'm very bummed. Elk Grove Brewery, which is walking distance from my house-maybe 6 blocks, closed last month. A new chain-owned brewery opened on the other side of town, the road it's on was closed last year for like 6 mos for a street overhaul and the economy made it go out of business:< It's for sale, so I say forget about people sending you beers, Forrest. Buy it and make your own. Of course, I'll visit. Here you go.

I think that you have to come over here to get some. Good Comfort beer. Lots of substance. It can replace food for dinner. High alcohol content, too.
