Black crud on Phal.s and Dend.

    Black crud looks like an oily patch on Phalenopsis and Dendrobium leaves. Just spraying it didn't help much. Have to wipe it off. Anybody know what it is or have a silver bullet for this one?

    sounds like it could be sooty mold from honeydew
    got any soft scale, aphids or perhaps mealybugs around?

    Yes there's some scale too. Sooty mold; is that it's real name?
