Box Turtle

    Found this little guy in the backyard. It's a three toed box turtle. We used to have a bunch of rescues that we'd keep in a large pen until they all escaped during Hurricane Katrina.

    I don't think I'm going to keep him. Since I'm still in college, it would be another thing for my family to take care of when I'm gone. They already have my larger orchids that I'm not growing in the terrarium, my carnivorous plants, a few other pets. They usually don't stray too far from our yard because it's very heavily planted, so they have food sources and cover all in once place.

    I live just outside of New Orleans, just north of Lake Pontchartrain.
