This is one that you don't see all that often in collections. This is probably the 4th flowering for me. It's growing mounted in my g.h. and gets bright light and lots of water in the warmer months. I tried to get a decent front shot but had no luck.

Oh I like that! How large is the flower? How about the plant habit?

Wendy, the flower is maybe 3 inches long. The dorsal usually opens up more flat, but I think it got damaged. There's a slight mark on it. The plant habit is rambling and is suited for mounting, not pots.

I have a plant that hasn't bloomed yet (ever hopeful). How large is the growth on yours?

Marni, the growths aren't very large at all. Maybe 5 inches including the bulb and leaf? My plant is 9 growths total, about 1/2 that leafless. But, it seems to be a fairly easy grower and bloomer for me.

Thanks, Candace. Mine is about 3" tall and was 2 psbs when it was given to me. It does have 2 new growths just starting. This is on wood wrapped with coconut fiber, it came that way and I'm not sure I want to keep it on that. What are you growing yours on?

It's mounted on cork with spagnum moss. I originally bought it in a basket with spagnum.

If anyone has any pollen it may be worth doing an outcross.

Did you buy it from a privat collector or from a grower? Like you said it's a "hard to get" specie.

    Not that I've noticed.

I bought it from a grower.
