I bought this plant as Bulbophyllum cernuum. It developed a flower but it never fully opened before falling off but it looks nothing like cernuum. Any ideas? I know it's not much to go on but the plant has small leaves which are about 1" or less and the flower was at most 1/4".

Well, I may have just answered my own question. I also bought B comberi from the same person and that's what this plant looks like. I wonder if the tags got mixed up?

I looked at the description of the pseudo bulb and it says B membranaceum has conical-ovate leaf which matches these well. So you could be correct. The one I have as comberi has not flowered but the pseudo-bulb is definitely different from this one.

Psuedobulb shape can differ greatly within a species. Even on the same plant, pseudobulbs can be differently shaped. I would hesitate to use that as a defining feature of a species.

He said he got a 2000+ growth plant at an AOS meeting years ago tagged as cernuum. He also said if I was concerned with the id then I should not bid on it. Curious

He's knowingly selling a plant that is incorrectly tagged. Lame.

Bull. Sheeit. Why the obviously wrong picture then!? Ask him that. If he got it years ago, he knows DAMN well that it's not the flower he has in the picture.

    Off to the vendor FYI
