Picked this up at POE and a few flowers have already opened the other day.
The flatten half of the inflorescence looks leathery, but feels like rubber.

So that was what that plant was, I was wondering what its flowers looked like. You bought this from Brookside’s booth right?

Yes, brookside. I thought they had an amazing selection at POE. I think the price was around $30-35. Absolutely worth it.

I thought they had a great selection as well, although all the species I was interested in were mounted and I just can’t keep up with that amount of watering. Good thing they’re only a 20 minute drive away.

    Lucky you!
I buy from them a lot. They always have unique species that I hardly see elsewhere, especially at a great price and size.

In many cases you can leave the plant on the mount and pot it up with the medium just up to the base of the plant. The roots will go where they want.

I also found a few things at Brookside that I couldn't resist.

Marni, do you know if Afri Orchids also attends orchids in the park? I don't remember what vendors went last year.

I don't remember ever seeing them there. They sometimes they do a show in the summer at CalOrchids.

Wow I can't believe I didn't think of this, I'm so dumb. When doing this would it be possible to break off pieces of the mount so it fits better in the pot?

It took me decades to figure this out.:) Yes, better to cut or reduce the size of the mount if possible rather than using too big a pot. I've found that most answers to orchid questions seem pretty obvious once you know them.
