Chris, all insulting comments aside, you know nothing about our orchid growing experience. To say we went from an orchid class to giving advice on an extremely delicate species is completely untrue. I believe my brother made the comment about the water spots possibly accelerating the rate that plant tissue burns, which isn't correct, and he earned up to the mistake. We went to that class *a number of years ago when we were first introduced to the hobby. Since then we haven't sat down and dissected every bit of information that was relayed to us. *In addition to that, when you say our ability to identify a credible source is highly suspect, that's clearly intended to be an insult and I feel that kind of comment is unnecessary, especially towards a contributing member, or any member for that matter. I passed on an observation for what caused our problem, and did NOT pass on "advice" like you suggested. *As for our observations the plants overall health has improved, its putting out more growths and we are no longer dealing with leaf loss. Our "highly suspect" source told us he had dealt with a similar issue and it turned out his watering nozzle, which was metal, had caused *him the same problems. When we eliminated the sprayer with the metal tip and internal metal mechanism, after a few months we began to observe the plants improved growth. I don't appreciate you trying to undermine me by twisting a comment made by another individual to suit your argument.

What's insulting is you presenting anecdote as fact based on a source that is reputable in YOUR opinion, and you can't even tell me what metal your sprayer was made of.

You must have me mixed up with the administrator that prefers money to a strong, accurate knowledge base on their forum.

Telling someone they should avoid using a Round Up sprayer sure sounds like advice to me!

Nope. My highly credible source said it was prayer. Or maybe it's the fact you actually know jack crap about Bulbophyllum culture and don't realize that it often takes a long time for delicate species to establish and turn the corner. Either answer is equally as credible as yours, post hoc ergo propter hoc.

I'm not twisting anything. You undermined yourself. You can't even tell me what your sprayer is made out of but you're trying to convince me it's damaging your plant with insoluble metals. I would be more than happy to live without that kind of "advice" on this forum.

Dale, have you tried giving it a cold snap...it just so happens that I had this same conversation with a very good grower last week, he had a well bloomed plant I was looking at, so I know he blooms it, he suggested a week or so in the low 50's at night might help. Although Marni was listening in and she said it didn't help her's...so there ya go!
