    Happy monday everyone!
So I maybe so chipper from my recently won bulbophylum phaleasnopsis from ebay. Or waking up at 5am on Mondays and all the tea I drink :)
The main point of this does any on have one ? Mine is a baby baby. In a 4inch pot. Im going to mount it since the leaves can get many feet long I've been reading. I would like to know how bad, is the sent on this orchid. I've read some articles that its in the top ten of most unpleasant flowers in the world! Which im not going to lie... was one of the reasons I wanted it for the past few years. But mainly the flower and the growth is stunning !
When she arrives ill snap a pic and show you. [emoji1]
What size basket should I start with if its In a 4inch clay pot?

If it is in the top ten, it is going to be pretty strong. Fill the whole house strong.

    Congrats on your win!

I recently got to see/smell one of these in bloom at a local grower's greenhouse. It was a ridiculously awesome flower and I love the leaves on the plant!

As for the smell, I didn't think it was unbearable bad; don't get me wrong it didn't smell good, but it didn't make me nauseous. My husband, on the other hand, found the smell repulsive. In fact, he didn't want to be around that area of the greenhouse at all. I wish I had a camera when I told him the grower said he would sell a division to me in a few months. :D

I can't wait to see pictures.

Anna I would start the thing out in a 4 or 5" basket. Mine was started in a mix of moss and small bark. Mine has 3 leaves and should bloom this spring. The smell is not bad, some one said it smells like an elephant that's been dead a long time. I got mine from a friend about 5 years ago, don't grow to fast.

Do you keep it dry or moist.? They said the water on the dry side. .. im guessing ill they mean when its dry water soon after
How long are the leaves on yours !?! I LOVE this Orchid. I cant wait to look and touch it! And maybe it is my new baby !
I bid on some stahopea and some other bulbophylum because I thought I had no chance in winning...boy my bank account took a minor hit.
My loveling husband made me a grow room just for my pants. So I cleared alot of space from the kitchen and dinning room. Now it looks so empty. Maybe I splurged a little to fill up space [emoji12]

I just put mine in a wooden basket and found an old back bulb they had thrown in with it. It is starting 2 new growths! So, I potted it up separate!

Don't expect that wall to be too impressive too soon. Mine puts out a growth or maybe two in a good year. So from seedling size to blooming size, expect more than a few more summer Olympics.
