    Hi guys,

I have a serious infestation of them little buggers on my orchid mounts ( as they came from thailand ) .
I know that Mesurol is the way to go if i want them gone.
I'm just trying to make sure whats the Mesurol to Water ratio i have to use in order to drench them as i have about 40 miniature orchids and all of them are infested.

    Thanks in advance

Around here, I can't get it without the license, so I've not used it. But here is the recommended dosage: 2lb/100gallon according to:
    http://www.gowanco.com/Document.aspx?id=967
It is equivalent to 2.39653g/L (0.24 w/v %). This is for Mesurol-75W (75% methiocarb). I noticed that in Europe, Bayer sells Mesurol WP50, which is 50% methiocarb, as well as metaldehyde-based bait under Mesurol, so you should make sure.

The last time when I looked up (about 2 years ago), the recommended dosage was 2x (0.48 w/v %). Also, Dr. Hollingsworth's paper from 2003 used 0.48% to study about the effective molluscicides against bush snails.

Methiocarb is the active ingredient, so 50% of your powder is the active ingredient. Here is the link to Mesurol WP-50 info: Mesurol WP 50 - Bayer CropScience Iraq
But they don't list snails. So with Gowan's info against snails, you can use yours at 3.594795 g/l (=2.39653 * 75/50). If you want to follow Dr. Hollingsworth's concentration, you need to double it. I followed Dr. H's dosage for caffeine, and I killed lots of orchids, so I would probably go with Gowan's recommendation.

    Thank you Naoki.
I'll start with Gowan's recommendation and see how it goes.

i'll submerge the orchids for an hour in a 10 liter platisc storage bin.

    see how it goes.

p.s here are some pics of bulbophyllum gracillimum that flowered few days ago in one of my vivariums.

Did the Mesurol treatment and looks like it did the job. as of now, almost a week after, there are no signs of any kind of snails. ususally it was pretty easy to spot them after the lights went out. i just had to pick up the mount and turn it over and you could spot numeros of snails ( cone and bush snails ).

ill upload some pics i took of the snails on he back side of the mount ( as soon as i get home ).

The bush snails have about a 30 day life cycle so you will want to treat again since it doesn't kill eggs.
