Coelogyne (dendrochilum) apoense is blooming for the first time with me. I love the color of the small flowers, especially the orange lip. It is found on Mindanao within the Philippines in mossy forests at elevations of 1500 to 2500 meters. The plant is also supposed to smell, but I haven't eared that yet. The name comes from Mount Apo, where the plant was found.

Cool! I like the contrast on the flowers, that's something that you don't typically see on the former Dendrochilums.

To me that’s a Dendrochilum. And it is beautiful.

Nicely grown! Until the Coelogyne revision came along I've been trying to keep up. This was a bridge too far for me.

True. The DNA does show the relationships. But someone is making a judgement call as to where to draw the line on where to lump or split.

And that is also true. ;):) and then it is important in which movement(stream) this person was educated. Interesting and sometimes annoying.
