I recently got a division of what was sold to me as Coel. nitida. I've grown this species before and recall that the pseudo bulbs were narrow and slightly elongated, almost like large grapes, matching other photos of nitida online. The plant I received has much larger, squat pseudobulbs, which makes me dubious about the identity. Does anyone have any idea what this might be? (see attached image)

Interestingly, I found a photo online of coel. ochracea (synonymous with nitida) that has exactly the same shaped bulbs as my plant.

Different in culture conditions, or different species? I don't have flowers to compare yet

    Thanks!

I don't know what it might be, but I also think of nitida/ochreace as having more elongate pseudobulbs, at least the ones I've grown. Whatever you have it certainly looks healthy.

Here is mine. In the second photo you can see the majority of the pseudobulb. It is certainly more elongated than the one you show. o_O

Here is another poor photo of mine but it shows the p'bulbs fairly well. The leaves on mine look much more slender than yours, too.
I have since mounted this plant.

Those pseudobulbs remind me of Coelogyne cristata.

Aren't the sepals and petals for Coelogyne cristata twisted?

Bob, I think Bill's comment about pseudobulbs is in reference to the original post from Calvin, not my plant.

Thanks for the replies. Marni - I agree. My old one looked exactly like Kelly's plant. When plump they look like long grapes. Will- I thought cristata too but the leaves are much more rigid than the cristata I've grown. I guess I'll just have to wait and see!

well without drying at least a bit those bulbs and keeping them cooler at winter it may not flower at all...
