I photographed this one at Otun Quimbaya, Risaralda, central Andean cordillera, about 1880m asl on 26-2-19, growing in the grounds of the accommodation. Nearest I can get is Oncidium, any opinions appreciated.

Looks like a Sigmatostalix to me. Can't say which species.

Is it possible to see the leaves of the plant shown?

Unfortunately not in this case, and very surprisingly, given that this was growing in the grounds of a lodge much frequented by naturalists, I cannot find any other images on line, although in the process of looking I did manage to name this one
    Cyrtochilum murinum

I agree that it's a Cyrtochilum sp., but not Cyrt. murinum.

Your photograph shows a long column with wings and what seem like well spaced flowers. Cyrt. murinum has a short red-brown column and the sepals and petals are differently marked.

You do surprise me, my det is based on photos of what is clearly the same species (and from same site) identified by Sebastian Moreno so rather unlikely to be misidentified.

Can you please post photos of or link to the true murinum?

Yes, the images of Cyrt. murinum that Sebastian Moreno has on his Flickr page are correct.

If you compare the side profile image of your Cyrtochilum which has an elongated column with the short thick reddish-brown column in Sebastian's photo, can you not see that they are different?

In addition, your flowers have long yellow sepals and petals with lateral brown bars. In my opinion they are nothing like the uniformly coloured ones seen in Cyrt. murinum.

I have an image of Cyrt. murinum in my Website Orchid photographs by Gary Yong Gee

Ah I see whats going on, you are looking at my OP photos that i thought was Oncidium sp, Please look at photo in post #5 whic are identical in all respecte to both Sebasian Morenos's photo and to the one on your website.

But you think my OP photos post #1 are also Cyrtochilum ?

OK. Yes, now I see what you mean. If that was your 3rd posted photo in #5 then that is Cyrt. murinum.

I was referring to your 1st and 2nd pics in post #1, which I think is another Cyrtochilum sp. I am no expert on the genus, so Stig Dalstrom is the authority to ask.

Perhaps Stig may say that it is not a Cyrtochilum but is an Oncidium?

Many thanks for the help, Stig Dalstrom replied very quickly, and identifies my OP photos as Cyrtochilum meirax

Now that Stig has put a name to it, I can see that it is Cyrt. meirax.
