Hi, I am a newbie to orchid growing, and have been looking for some nice and different cultivars of orchids to keep. In my exploration of the net I have yet to come across a double variety of any species or hybrid orchid. I wondered if any members had double varieties in there collection or had heard of species which regularly produce double flowers . Do they exist?

I've never heard of "double variety". Are you asking about plants that have 2 flowers per inflorescence? Plants with flowers with extra parts?

I think it is in reference to having extra floral parts a la the article Leon Glicenstein wrote.

Dennis, there certainly are cultivars with extra petal/sepals. There was even someone who endeavored to breed them. Incidentally, both are ugly as shit.
