WOW! Nice present. What are the white patches on the bulbs?

Oh man. That's awesome. Europeans have such better plant sources than the US. I'm so damned jealous...

    Nice gift, Linda! I'm envious.

"What are the white patches on the bulbs?"

From Encyclopaedia of Cultivated Orchids - Hawkes:

"The live pseudobulbs of D. siamensis Schltr. are covered with CaCO2-incrusted papillae when alive, which give them a white, mealy appearance; the dead pseudobulbs are glossy green-yellow."

Damn nice gift too or should I say gifts :)

I was wondering if anyone has ever considered pooling together and placing an import order to share the expenses on paperwork? Especially since so many of us would love to aquire this plant and many others that are not readily available in the US. Just a thought.

There are many unusual species in Asia I would like to try so I would.

Find a place that has some cool species like this, and I'd be interested in doing an import, Tom.

The one that opens their mouth is the one who volunteers huh....LOL

I will see what I can come up with...no promises though as Christmas is right around the corner and shipping in the winter time isn't the best idea either but maybe in the spring?

Ok. You can use my impor tpermit if you want. Only thing with that is that the plants would have to leave inspection and come to my house.

A word of advice, always ship through Miami.

I've heard that plants through Miami disappear. Like if you order 4, and 4 are shipped, only 3 will arrive at their destination. I had good luck with SFO over the summer. Does anyone have experience with Seattle?
