I have several encyclias in bud. This is the first enc. to open. Tampensis is natural to the southern half of Florida. This plant lives on a palmetto tree in my yard. When they all open it is quite a show. My favorite for Florida species. I will post again as the flowers open.

When I was first starting out with orchids, I picked one up at the farmers market south of Atlanta. It was obviously a wild-collected plant, growing on a branch. It was probably the oldest plant in my collection (20 years) when I lost it and the rest of my collection to the “big freeze” in 1994.
