This is a wonderful species from Costa Rica. It has a strong fragrance that is pleasant but hard to describe. The largest flower on this blooming is 2.25" natural spread. When I was given a division years ago I was told that it was a warm grower and grew it that way for years. About a year ago a friend who had done a lot of work in Costa Rica told me he had seen it growing at higher elevations. I decided to try a division in the intermediate house and this is it. I will now try one in the cool house.

I have tried selfing it a number of times. Most haven't taken, but two have. They gave nice looking seed but nothing ever germinated.
