This one is labeled as Eurystyles cotyledon. I am not sure if it is labeled correctly. The flower is tiny, about 0.1". Thank you for any input.

Nice, Tom. Do you know the country of origin?

Marni, I bought it from a Venezuela dealer at show a year ago. There was no tag on it when I picked it up, so she wrote a tag right at the table.

I'll look tonight and see if I can find something in the Flora of Venezuela. I'm on a deadline right now.

Here's what I found. Flora de Venezuela, published in 1969, lists to Eurostyles speciees: E. cotyledon and E. ananassocomos. The key says that on E. cotyledon the lip is very different from the petals, oblong. E. ananassocomos has a lip that is like the petals. There is a drawing of E cotyledon, but not the other. There is a description of each (in Spanish) that I can pull info out of if you want.

I have several images of E cotyledon on a CD of Colombian Orchids that look quite like yours except that the cluster of flowers is more densely flowered.

E ananassocomos is found in Puerto Rico, Jamaica, (type) Brazil and Peru as well as Venezuela. Perhaps a book on one of these has drawings. I checked Christenson Icones on Peru, not there.

Marni, thank you for those helpful info. It is well could be labeled correctly. I will check the lip shape tomorrow.
Do the images of E. cotyledon on your CD show the green stripes/markings on the flower? Any hair on the flower?

Yes, there are three flowers shown and all have green. Two of them have a lot of green on the lip and one has just a bit of green. The drawing in Flora de Venezuela shows hairs on the end of the lip in a triangle shape and what appears to be cilia on the edges of the lateral sepals.

My guess is that it is correctly named.
