I've been an orchid owner for only about two weeks now, so your patience is appreciated. I did an internet search but couldn't find anything like this. Had a flower bloom about a week ago. Now it looks like it's closing up again. The petals look quite healthy. They're just closing is all. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

Some orchid flowers don't last long. Without knowing what type of orchid it is or seeing the flower, it would be very hard to diagnose. If you can post pictures, that would help a lot.

Hi Bob, the Sacramento Orchid Society has a pre session for diagnosis. We meet the first Wednesday of the month.

Well, don't know if this will help much
Much obliged, but if you read my name carefully, you'll see it's not "Sacramento". I get this all the time! :) Anyway, if I'm ever in town, I'll be sure to look you guys up! And, seriously, thanks again.

It is an "espresso orchid" that I picked up from a grocery store, if that helps. Not in a position to make picture right now.

I have no idea what type of orchid that would be.
