Fungus fruiting body

    Probably most of us have seen these on our mounts occasionally but I haven't photographed one until now. So tiny (~ 3 mm wide) and intricate.

    How long will the mount last now? My experience is that it'll start to decay pretty soon.

    Carl, this is on a piece of cork bark that has not been in use long. I suspect that the little mushroom is growing on decaying roots of a recently dead orchid. As you know, the cork will last a long time.

    I wish I knew how to ID mushrooms! I've seen one very similar to this. Today I found a very different species.

    Is this dangerous/harmful to the orchid in anyway? Should it be removed when see?

    Here one of my mounts. It is the only one that grows these fungus bodies
