Giant Starfish flower,Praying Mantis, Flies, Lunch

    I went to look at the starfish flower and found a rather large praying mantis laying waste to any fly that got within his striking distance.

    He must have ate 10 flies while I was photographing him.

    SO cool! I used to grow those on my balcony when I lived in South Africa. Had to move them farrrrr away from the balcony door when they bloomed, because of the smell. :cool:

    probably a female taking in lots of protein so she can make lots of egg cases.
    notice her color matches the flowers base color, that's cool
