So quite suddenly in the past day or two, the greenhouse has taken on the odor of rotten fish.

Quick stats - Its a tiny greenhouse (10x12) with a concrete floor that I keep in lowland conditions (65 min, 70%+ humidity).

I cleaned the whole thing (swept and everything), but the smell persists. The air movement is pretty good (constant fans and semi-regular fresh air intake). Water does accumulate on the ground in the back corner - there is some algae growth in the corner that accumulates water.

I have had a look see for a dead mouse, but can't find one. :bang:

Any other ideas? Could algae cause this?

Its a possibility :), but thats one of the first things I looked for. I dunno. Could be my nose too. I'm coming down with a cold. Maybe I'm smelling imaginary smells

I had that once in my greenhouse. I called it the mysterious stink. Never did figure it out. It went away after a while.

A lot of organic decay in greenhouses smells awful. Even a small amount of water with a leaf decaying in it can funkify the whole place. The axil of a bromeliad was rotting in my GH, and the whole place smelled bad.

Ditto on the a rotting Bromeliad. They can smell like a bad swamp and not even be dead. A large one could also hold a small dead mouse or lizard in the cup

I sprayed everything down with physan yesterday, and as of today greenhouse stench seems to be dissipating. I'm not sure it was the physan, but I don't care. ;)

I've had small lizards die and stink up the place...
Onetime I found a dead one in the fan I was using trying to get rid of the odor... it got worse the more I used the fan!
