I have been a long time lurker, mainly because I did not have much of anything to post. I am a junior in high school, and so my growing spaces and conditions are limited to what I can stake out around the house. I have 22 orchids, mostly hybrids, with a few species thrown in the mix. Just recently I seem to have been bitten by the ang bug, and recieved a Aer. mystacidii from Botanica on ebay today. :) It was in spike, and upon close inspection, the part that connects the buds to the spike have turned brown. I think this means that they are going to blast:cry: but with so many ang experts around, I have a feeling that I will soon know for sure.
Thank you for listening to me ramble,
    Lance

Hey Lance, welcome to the best little orchid forum on the web!
Usually, this is where I ask all newcomers if they like beer (most do) but you are too young to drink..so I'll ask this..

Do you like root beer? :D

Anyway, again, welcome to the forum, I look forward to seeing and hearing about your orchids!

Welcome, Lance! Thanks for introducing yourself. It's excellent that a number of younger folks have become involved with OI over the past 6 months :)

When did you get started with orchids and how did your interest begin? When I was your age, (I'm 32 now) I was just as crazy about orchids as I am now.

Could you post a photo of the brown section of the flower spike? Angraecoid flowers don't ship all that well, especially during hot summer days.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I got started with orchids when I was eleven, when my mom recieved one as a get well gift after a major surgery. I was amazed by the beauty of the flowers and fell in love. Since then my collection has slowy built up to the point where it is now.
    Sure do!:D

I will try to, but it will probabaly be tomorrow. There haven't be many hot summer days for a while here in Michigan, today was 60s and rain.

Well, pictures won't be needed anymore. When I got home from school and checked the plant, there was a little pile of fallen buds. I guess that there is always next year for blooms. I wonder if I could be considered obsessed now, first thing I do when I get home is check my plants and then come here!

Hi, I'm glad I found this orchids interactive forum . I've been an orchid lover, but I haven't try it to grow until I moved here in Michigan. So far, I had 2 dozens of phals that I started to grow but only few survived, kinda disappointed...
