Hello every one! My name is Cody, I have just turned 16, and I have been growing orchids for one year. Being that I live in Canada, I cannot grow outdoors, so I have converted my closet into a two tiered under-lights grow space. I have 35 'chids, and 33 in my closet right now. 16 novelty Phals, most of them species, 10 Bulbo's, 5 Catts, 1 Mtssa, and 1 Tol. I am very interested in breeding with any kind of orchid I can get my hands on, but especially with novelty phals.

Cody, welcome to the forum. There is lots of expertise and experience here that you (we all) can learn from. It's impressive that a 16 year-old has built a sophisticated set-up like you describe. Good growing.

Oh, it's not that too sophisticated, as it is all DIY. It is pretty much a table made of plywood and hardwood nailed together for the legs. I mounted lights to the bottom, and have two fans down there. For the top I hung the lights with twine from the closet shelf, and have also hung two fans for the top level. I have the lights and one fan from each level on a timer, and the other fan in each level going 24/7. So far the 'chids have been loving it!

Welcome! Sounds like you are well and truly addicted to orchids. Where do you put your clothes if your orchids have taken over the closet . . . . :D

    Glad to have you :)

Welcome, Cody. It's awesome that you have converted your closet to an orchid-growing space! I look forward to seeing pictures of your set-up. Here is a thread on my indoor growing space.
