I have a few Vandas and cattleyas with this on the flower petals! What is it and how do I treat? I have Merit and Physan.

    TIA

I was so excited to see this one open and I get this:

I would think thrips a likely cause. Merit is supposed to work on them. I have used Avid, a very good miticide that also works on thrips, but it is expensive, the kind of thing you share with a few friends because you need very little. It is also nice as a miticide as it translocates so you don't need to get under the leaves as with most of the contact sprays. Good luck.
