    Forrest, I have found they grow better in the shade. The leaves are a nice green, they don't bloom, but they look darn good.

    Never, ever, EVER give your orchids any fertilizer. *shudder*

    The only good water for orchids is spit. That's right. Spit on them. Frequently.

    They tell me piss is a good source of nitrogen, this means you can both water and fertilize:rolleyes:

    And never, ever re-pot, fer crisskaes. The sourererer the mix or sphag, the happier the plant.

    I use ordinary garden soil for my Phal. and I never have to repot them again. Never!:D

    I've read that it's good to use beer to water your orchids. They love the hops in it. Sort of like fertilzing at the same time. Or, "recycled" beer is supposed to be even better. Its natural and prefiltered.

    And insect control? Fuggetaboutit.

    Allow those white fuzzy things to completely cover your plant, they are the best defense against any harmful creatures that might try to invade your collection.

    Be sure to make a snow angel for Prof. MJ when it gets like that:D

    Tip for newbies--All newbies are required to take insecticide class taught by Prof. MJ. If you let her spray those user frriendly insecticide on your skin, I guarantee you will get a A for her class.;)
