Hi to all members my name is Eric Beltarme, I live in North Queensland, Australia. Age 70, married, one daughter and two grand kids. My favourite family is Bulbophyllum of which I have around 400 species plus a number of hybrids. I also grow and hybridize Spathoglottis. I also have a number of other species including Aerides of which I have made a number of hybrids

Thanks for the joining wishes. I will do some postings soon. I used to be a member of Orchids On Line and did a lot of postings there but it has now folded. Looking to do some postings soon.

Hi, I have just posted 4 photos of one of my shade houses in reply to Cove Lady and Kelly W.
I was going to write something with the photos but I think they were uploaded without my comments so the reason for this post.
I will get the hang of it with a few more tries.

I have had this Bulbophyllum for some time and have tried to get a name for it when recently a friend of mine, Jim Cootes to whom I sent photos of the flower for an ID sent me a pdf from Orchideen Journal stating that he and Mark Arcebal Naive had just named it as a new species. Naming it Bulbophyllum schaiblei.

Very nice set up! Is the top covered with just shade cloth or is there a water barrier also?

Hi Marni, no the shade house is all 80% black shade cloth, sides and top. Just in case you are not sure of my weather, winter I can get up to a dozen frosts a year but normally the mornings are around 10 to 14 degrees but our summers can quite often reach over 40 degrees Celsius Eric

Hi Marni, I have just seen that you will be in Perth WA in August. My wife and I will be there also. It will be nice to meet up with you. Will you be bringing any flasks for sale with you?
