Hey there! So my husband bought me my first orchid in January. It has been growing new spikes with huge beautiful blooms. The instructions say you’re supposed to wait until the blooms fall off to repot. The original blooms have fallen, but new ones keep coming! Anyway, I notice that some of the roots look rotten to me, the leafs are a lighter green than a lot of the photos I see, and it’s clear that the store was cutting off the air roots as they came up. My question is, should I cut the spikes and repot it, or would that be too stressful on the orchid if I don’t wait and let it do its thing?? I’ve bought bark (which will be a new kind of medium than what it’s in now, I think toghtly packed moss), fertilizer, and a nice, airy or hid specific pot. What do you think??
