First bloom on this seedling. The flower is not yet fully open, hopefully it will expand better. Colour is a bright clear yellow, difficult to capture with my cheap camera. sepals lenght ca. 20 mm each, flower held well above the foliage. As usual with Lepanthes, this one was fast to bloom, ca. 2 years from seed.

Fantastic. With just a hint of caprimulgus. One of my favorites. Also one of my most reluctant to actually set bloom.
Laurent- if I am not mistaken, you are the only one that I have ever seen post a pic of calodictyon x telipogoniflora in 2009. Correct?
I have, what was said by Ivan, as the first to come out from Ecuagenera and it should be opening today. I am fairly excited for it.

If the post was yours, is yours still alive, or did you ever register it with RHS? I think it deserves a name.

Indeed, I made the telipo x calod cross some years ago. few seeds, bad germination, and slow to grow in flasks, but I managed to save one plantlet! it is still alive, but not bigger than in 2009! (so long time ago, really?). I have quite a few Lepanthes hybrids which will have to be registered by RHS
What did Ivan Portilla say about the hybrid he sold to you? I know they requested some plants of this cross when I came to Ecuagenera in 2010, but I cannot remember if I was able to fulfill their request or not, as I have had only very few plants thereof. Maybe they did the cross themselves? Anyway, that's a strange cross for sure, but not a vigorous one, sadly. I got much much better results with some saltatrix hybrids (with escobariana, calocerca, ribes) which have big weird flowers & tesselated leaves!

No disrespect to Ecuagenera, but when I ask of the origin of their plants, I get the same response. That it was created in their own lab. This may be true, by often I wonder when I get very wild collected looking Restrepia, ect. It is obvious that with some of the plants that they now offer, that they do some outsourcing. I have heard they have a strong presence in France, or that could be the group that broke off from them. I forget their company name, still Portilla's though.

My plant is quite vigorous since I picked it up in Sept. All of the existing leaves have put out new spikes with new buds. The first should be open today. It also has a half dozen new leaves emerging. I picked up the only two Ivan said were available at the time. One was traded off for some oyglossum Dendrobiums.

Since you were the first to bloom and most likely to breed the plant, do you have any intention on naming it? I don't believe they have any intentions on doing so. My belief is, considering the parents, that it will be common in miniature collections now that they are officially offering it to the public.

I will post a pic soon for comparison to yours.

Keep up the mini hybrids. There are not enough of them to go around.

Chad, were you ever able to get a picture of yours? I wonder if they're worth it to buy from Ivan, the only one I remember seeing is Laurent's on flickr.

Mine has grown considerably and sent out numerous buds but none have opened. My belief is that my daytime temps are too cold for them to bloom. My telipogoniflora is doing the same thing. When I get open flowers I will certainly post them.

I do have pics of the plant in bloom from Ivan. I will try and post it tmrw for you to get an idea.

I've been visiting Ecuagenera lately, and we discussed about this hybrid. They don't remember if their plants (they have lots of them, growing in quite warm temperatures at El Pangui) come from the flask I gave them 3 years ago, or if it is from a "greenhouse spontaneous" pollination they flasked themselves. As their calodictyon (and tentaculata) are growing together with the telipogoniflora, such hybridization is likely to occur from time to time. I granted them permission to choose the name themselves, and register it.
