This is a recent import via Columbian Orchid Imports. I received it in November and it is now blooming and putting out at least 4 new leaves. It handled the import trauma well. There have been several of these posted but this one may have a darker dorsal sepal than the others (or it could just be different lighting). I'm growing it in sphagnum in a terracotta pot, shady, intermediate.

I'm really starting to get into this family of orchids. I've recently aqcuired some masdys and plueros. The Lepanthes are next on my list. How wonderful to get one right from Columbia. Was it in culture or is it from the field? Or would that be illegal?

newbud, it is my understanding that Columbian Orchid Imports only brings in nursery grown plants. I would not buy plants that I knew were wild collected unless they were rescue plants. I don't know what the legality is in Columbia of collecting wild orchids.

Another really cool one! Mine didn't make it to the U.S. when ODV had their last speaking tour.

I'm not sure about plants, but export of WC amphibians out of Colombia is illegal. They can only be exported if they are captive bred in situ for X number of generations first. I'd imagine they'd have to be nursery grown when it comes to plants. Maybe Sebastian would know?

Here is a statement off of the Columbian Orchid Imports website. "The plants we have available are bare-root divisions of CITES-documented nursery propagated plants."
I have ordered from them twice and plan to again. If you can accept a certain amount of trauma and risk from the import process you can get some nice bare-root plants at good prices. I believe they bring plants in 3-4 times per year.

Yes. Of course it is illegal to export wc plants or even sell them inside Colombia. This is a nice species, one of the big flowered Lepanthes.
