Let's start by showing you my plant of Lepanthes tibouchinicola Luer & R. Escobar.
As you can see it is now blooming profusely. This species can be found in Colombia at elevations between 2800 - 3200m growing mostly on trees of Tibouchina lepidota, it needs to be grown with highland conditions and night temperatures down to 10°C. In my experience, it only grows well if mounted on a piece of Tibouchina tree.

I know people who would kill for just a tiny piece! It is fantastic.

I wouldn't kill for a piece of it, but I might do some other unmentionable things.

Hi Sebastian! Glad to see you here.
Could you please show your in-situ pictures of this also. Its one of the most striking sights I can imagine to see in the wild.

Haha.. there are some plants I would kill for too :) Mostly the Neooreophilus species not found in Colombia, and some fantastic Lepanthes species.

Of course Mika, here are some of the pictures:

Those are wonderful, Sebastian. Many on this forum, myself included, really enjoy in-situ photos. Any in-situ photos that you post would be greatly appreciated. Not only are they exciting to see but they help us with our culture. Keep them coming, please.

Great species and great challenge for cultivation. Thanks for in-situ photos and first hand observations.

Fantastic blooming Sebastian! I feel so sad looking at the flasks where I sowed seeds of that species (brought by a common friend ;-)). germination was excellent and protocorms grew to first leaf primordia, then was the summer heat.... all browned in a few weeks!

That is a pity Laurent, but also is good for learning about how to grow it. Let´s hope you can get more seed in the future.

I hope so too, Sebastian! but I'll have to be more careful, and keep the flasks at the bottom of the shelves, where temperatures are cooler! JM said that he had to inspect a lot of plants in bloom before he managed to find 3 seedpods, do you confirm that species seem not to be much pollinated in the wild?

pacome, most Lepanthes species have a low pollination rate in the wild, and the same applies to L.tibouchinicola :), fortunately this species is common at some special spots and is always blooming so it should not be that hard to find capsules.

Wow! I was amazed at how well grown your plant seems to be, but that last in situ picture is just amazing. That must have truly been a special sight.
