Lepanthes vanbalenii

    This plant was bought as L. manabina 5 years ago fro Ebay. I directly saw it was incorrect. I recently got the correct ID. Its Lepanthes vanbalenii. Named after a good orchid friend in Holland, Theo van Balen.

    It's said to be extremely rare and has only been collected once. Where the seller on Ebay got it from is a mystery.
    Please forgive the untidy leaf. Its a very old leaf and has got to much company of lichens/algeae and moss.

    I really like the flower, and I think the leaf looks cool. As though it were growing in nature.

    Lovely! I'm gratified to see something like this in your hands, hope you can continue growing it well and make it less rare in cultivation.
