Masdevallia hirtzii

It's hard to imagine this plant eluding discovery by orchid hunters until 1989 but somehow it did.
I remember seeing it on the cover of the AOS bulletin and knowing I had to have one and did have one by 1990
for the price of a used car. But hirtzii is a strong grower and prolific bloomer so I soon had my investment back
with the sale of divisions. My original plant thrived for many years until the green house collapse.
This new clone is three years old, blooms for months and I still think it's one of my favorite Masdevallias even though you can now get a nice plant for about 20 bucks
