Only now, after its first bloom, I am realizing that this species would look better mounted. However, repotting season for Masdevallias is almost at the end (it is getting warmer here). My be next year. Masd jarae 01.jpg

Beautiful! I used to grow this species, mounted too! Unfortunately I lost it when I left it in the care of my mother for a few months!!

I have seen that photo of your plant Alfonso, searching Internet for images of Masd. jarae. It was a great specimen! Sorry to hear that it was lost. On the other hand - having mother's basic care about your collection is much better then ...

Thanks! It was a shame it was lost, but I would have lost many plants if I didn't have my mom to water them when I was not able to take care for them!! Beautiful species! Good luck with your plant :)

    Hi Alfonso,

Just a tip my grandfather (Enrique Jara = "jarae" he discover over 32 species) always talk and even sign to them, he believe they were alive and if you treat them with love plants can stand even the hardest conditions. I used to think that it was funny talking or singing to plants; however, it help me keep flowers for almost 8 months when they should say only 2.

I hope you enjoy the tip and that my grandpa's advice can be useful for others.

    Best regards,

    Liz Herrera Jara
