This plant smells awful. It's one of the most putrid smells I've ever experienced. I mean, it is grotesque. The flowers are okay to look at, but the stench is almost unbearable. And this is coming from a bulbo guy.

Ditto on most of what you just said, but that is the best blooming I have seen. Usually they hang down over the pot. You will not find this in my collection, even I have limits.

hmm, now I want to know how it smells for some reason. You piqued (is that spelled right?) my interest. It's nice however it smells.

This is one of my all time favorites.

I bought this species one time when Jon was over for a visit. It was pretty comical because it was in bloom and I carried it for several hours, it kept wafting into my nose. At first it was one of those oh man, this is so bad that I have to smell it again. But after a while I was searching for a place to set it down.

I noticed that your flowers are a little "bunchy" Jon, is this one in the GH or inside? The flowers on mine dont have that.

    Thanks friends.

I grow this one in the basement, Forrest. What do you mean by "bunchy"?

Like the bloom, you can keep the stench.

It's worse, Tom. It made my sinuses burn after about 5 minutes of taking pictures.

Oh. I attribute that to high light.

Interesting. Care to share why you attribute that to high light?

The leaves are yellowed, and the flowers didn't do that until I turned on the HPS this fall.

I think it's probably too warm out there in the summer, Forrest.

Some masdies smell worse than bulbos, Candace. Ask Dale to describe masd caesia to you.

My ex-wife's cooking. Seriously, though, velifera's not bad. To get things into perspective you need to smell M. colossus. I have never smelled anything that foul. Even realizing it's just a flower and not really something unspeakable on the bottom of my shoe didn't help.

I hope y'all didn't miss me too much. My network card failed Saturday morning. Just as the IT guy was leaving my new computer arrived.
