Maxillaria burtonii

    I had never heard of this species before seeing it at SEPOS in 2022 and I just had to have it! It blooms several times a year, but this is by far, my best blooming. 19 blooms thus far, and more on the way. This is as wide as the flowers open and for the most part face upward. Smells of chocolate.

    Here are some quick photos. The plant is quite large with leaves approximately 15” not including the stalk (I'm sure that's not it's actual name) which adds another 8” or so. The newer growths have gotten more compact as I have it growing under fairly bright light.

    Very interesting. That seems a rather unusual leaf. The word you are looking for is petiole. It is new to me. Thanks for the post.
