    Also known as Ornithidium miniata, this cool growing species is found in Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, and Ecuador. The non-fragrant blooms arise in clusters from the central stem, growing between the leaves. They are deep red in color with a yellow lip that includes a blotch of red in the center. The plant itself stands about 15 inches tall. The blooms are approximately 8mm in length.

    Great color! I like these Maxillarias that have a growth habit that looks monopodial, but they they tend to get too tall for my limited space.
