Maxillaria species [edit: M. houtteana]

    I've never had a name for this. Anyone recognize it? Plant is nearly indistinguishable from Maxillaria variabilis.

    Thanks for searching, Pook. My plant can sustain a division but you should know, though, it's a very shy bloomer.

    OK, I don't have the space for a shy bloomer. I'd rather have a regular bloomer take up the real estate. So I'll pass.

    Flowers are un-scented.

    "Couldn't it be the red flower form of variabilis?"

    No.

    I seem to recall Eric Christensen is good at maxillaria IDs. I could be full of it also, though.
