I know it's common and everyone has one but it is a favorite of mine. This is one of many divisions I've taken from my huge mother plant.

There's a reason everyone has it... It's easy to grow, and it smells wonderful when flowering! Nicely grown!

There are a lot of flowers on that small plant. Nice clone!

A very nice, dark clone. It's actually one of the nicer ones I've seen, I think. Maybe awardable if size is good too.

That's also one of my favorites! I like the unusual way it grows, on top of previous bulbs, pretty cool.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I have always liked this plant but I don't get to see many collections so I didn't realize it was "special".

That's certainly a very nice clone, but even the best clones can't illustrate their potential without a good grower.

I agree! Kelly you have a beautiful clone, grown perfectly :)

I just left a huge specimen in Honolulu, too big for my current vivarium now in California. It didn't have such beautiful colours as yours! For years it didn't bother blooming, preferring to grow into a HUGE mass, to the point that the pseudobulbs were hidden, appearing as a potted sedge of some kind. Winter before last I gave it some tough love, removed it from the rain and had it sit on a dry shelf indoors for four months without any water. Then within weeks of placing it back under the rain, it burst into an epic bloom. Nothing like a warm humid afternoon with that pervasive coconut fragrance!

Thank you Jacob. I have never heard of this Max. responding to a dry rest. Interesting. I give mine year-round water. For me it grows equally well potted or mounted. I have seen others that look like potted sedge, as you described. However, my plant tends to climb.
I hope Berkeley is agreeing with you.
