IC grower. Flowers are wonderfully scented and 5 3/4" tall.
that is awesome. Man I wish I had the space for this genus.
You do. Some of the Brazilian 'pincushion' maxillaria are only 2" tall. They don't have 6" flowers, though.
Great looking pictures of a cool flower Dale
that lip makes me feel dirty
Dale grows this intermediate. It also does well in a fairly extreme range. I grow mine with Laelia anceps, but with less light. A 42 F minimum night in the winter is normal, but it did survive an week of 32 nights a few years ago. It takes the extremes in summer where 90 is not unusual a couple times a week, though it does cool down to the 50's at night.
Hooray! I love this species!
I really like this species. Never seen this one before.
Thanks for that info Marni. This one sounds like a good candidate for my atrium.
Damn, I wish I was on the right continent to beg you to trade. I've got a Sharry Baby in spike I could swap you for it
Oh...I need one of those, LOL...going to the top of my Maxxie wish list
