Let's see ... 100 "Andy-bucks" divided by 95 helpful & indispensible recruitees = about a buck apiece for each of us. Wonder what Andy's got for a buck ... one bush snail perhaps ... or a stick ...

Never mind Tom - keep mine.

Jon's a pretty smart guy, must be disappointing that he wasn't able to predict how many people the top scorer would recruit here though.
I think $100 is pretty generous actually. He didn't HAVE to offer anything

As I originally stated, this money came out of my pocket. Regardless of how many people were recruited (be it 1 or 93 or 500), I'd still be out a hundred bucks. What did I get out of it? Nothing monetary. But I did help build what is becoming the best orchid forum out there. That's good enough for me. If you want to mock my decision to spend $100 at a reputable vendor in order to grow this forum, go for it. I mean, I decided to cough up some decent cash. It's not like I'm throwing around $25 gift certificates or something.

    Oops - rewind please.

The post was supposed to come off as a slice of dry humor - a friendly jab of sorts - to the big winner Tom in PA (who recruited me), i.e. "Hey Tom ... how 'bout slicing the pie between the recruits, yuk yuk ...?" Y'all should know that engineers aren't widely recognized for their humor. Some day I'll remember that too (my ex-wife's quick to remind me). Anyway, don't read into it what isn't there. It was a lame attempt at jest, and in retrospect a might lame one at that.

As Jon suggests this is, no doubt, to be among the best orchid forums around and I certainly appreciate the tone. Disregard any offense stemming from my post.

LOL! Thanks for the explanation. I gotta say, there were a few of us scratching our heads. I mean, I didn't take offense until I read Clark's post. So I re-read your post. Then I saw what he meant. And I was kinda confused. So I tried to write a retort that wasn't a giant kick in the groin. So, let's all have a group hug and send each other plants and sing whatever song it is that the fat jolly guy sings.
