Miniature Oncidium (species)

    The plant was labeled as Onc acrobotryum, synonym for Onc harrisonianum, which is definitely not. My best guess is Oncidium edwallii however, I have not seen close up photos of Onc edwallii. Any suggestions?

    That does not look like an Oncidium at all, though it looks related.

    I know it as Oncidium hians.
    A beautiful smal Oncidium:clap:

    That would be my first guess as hians is known for the gap and edwallii is not supposed to have the gap in the callus tissue. Both species are in the same section of Oncidium and there are a few more so who knows?

    Hello Alexey,

    A late response but..
    In my opinion it's definitely a member of the Paucituberculata and my guess is
    that this one of your's is the Oncidium aberrans.

    This (small) epiphyte is also called the gaping Oncidium [refers to the large teeth of the callus] Native in SE-Brazil (Peru?). Synonyms are: Aurinocidium hians ( Lindl. ) Romowicz & Szlach. 2006; Grandiphyllum hians ( Lindl. ) Docha Neto 2006; Oncidium leucostomum Hoffmanns. ex Lindl. 1855; Oncidium maxilligerum Lem. 1856; Oncidium quadricorne Klotzsch 1852;. Only...your's has a lip who is more brownish which gives the flower a more even colour, while the Onc. hians Lindl. could have other discolorations in the lip and stem. Observing the plant as I can see it possess as nutriënt reservoirs bulbs and the Onc. aberrans does also have. Leaves are in the same proportion as the whole plant does. Only the pale brownish appearance and the bending of the petals afterwards in full bloom makes me to this determination.
